The department aspires to deepen and increase scientific awareness on regional and international problems and issues of peace, security, development and international cooperation.

Believing in the importance of keeping abreast of global changes, and in response to the requirements of research on strategic issues and international policies, in the United States of America, Latin America, the European Union and the Russian Federation, in addition to the major transformations and challenges in the African and Asian continents, to deepen the field of scientific research in front of the expansion of the interest of And the Americas.

1. Building specialized cadres in regional and international affairs, to meet the needs of national departments and institutions.
2. Raising the level of scientific capabilities in research and analysis of the Department's students in specialized subjects in the field of Strategic Studies and Regional Studies and focusing attention on the hotbeds and reservoirs of tension in the world.
3. Developing scientific cooperation with academic institutions in Libya or in the countries of the North and south through participation or by organizing an invitation to hold specialized scientific conferences and seminars on the study of strategic problems and contemporary and future international issues.
4. Development of scientific, theoretical and applied programs for students of higher (master's) and micro (doctoral) degrees in the department in line with the developments witnessed by the corresponding departments in academic institutions in European countries and developed countries of the world.
